Lost and drifting in life?
Do you feel life is passing by? Lost and drifting in life?
Do you ever catch yourself saying “Thank God it’s Friday”? Do you dread Monday mornings every week? If you’re not getting what you want out of your life, you owe it to yourself to make a change.
Most of us resist change, because we somehow believe that change will be worse than our current suffering.
We fear uncertainty so much, that we’ll make ourselves miserable just to stay safely within our comfort zones, even if those very comfort zones are killing us!
What would your life look like if you decided to give up some of your fears? Or if you decided not to care what people thought of you?
Don’t be afraid to let go and create something better. If you’re not happy, then you can make the decision right now to take ownership of your own happiness.
We’ll always try and convince ourselves that “we can’t have what we really want”.
We’ll convince ourselves that “it’s EASY for that other person, but for us it’s different. We have this HUGE REASON why we can’t go and change our lives for the better”.
But that reason is always nothing more than a smokescreen that our subconscious has served us to protect us from ourselves. To protect us from facing the fear of change. To protect us from admitting to ourselves that we’re responsible for our own destiny.
We’ll defend that reason to the death sometimes, because without that reason we would have to accept that we have no excuse. We would have to admit that we’re responsible. We would have to admit that the only reason we aren’t living the life that we want to be living, is because we haven’t been brave enough to go for it.
Accepting that we’re responsible is hard, but until we can accept responsibility and own it, we’ll stay firmly stuck in place for all of time, paralysed by the very reason that’s protecting us.
If someone tells themselves that they can’t leave their job because they need the income to pay their mortgage, then guess what; they won’t ever be able to leave their job. They’ve created a story outside of themselves, that holds them prisoner, and makes them the powerless victim. They can’t move, and they can’t change.
Instead if they admit that really it’s because they’re scared of the prospect of speaking to a few recruitment agencies, and then interviewing for better jobs, potentially getting offered a better job, and then resigning from their current job… Then they take back control.
Plus, they’d still have money to pay the mortgage… Because that was never the reason, it was just the story.
Accepting responsibility is one of the most powerful things we can do.
We can face the fear, and all of a sudden we’re empowered to change our entire reality. When we accept responsibility, we also gain the immediate power to change everything. No more blaming, no more excuses, no more “reasons” or “stories” about why we’re not where we want to be.
Own it, admit it, and take back control.
